‘Don’t let the worry of tomorrow, take away from the peace of today’
Throughout the day we make hundreds of decisions. Big to small they are all made either with a quick yes or time to think and consider options.
Always with decisions, before agreeing to anything, you should pause, think about it, check your calendar, check commitments, and mostly check in with yourself.
Ask yourself, ‘Is this what I want to do?’ ‘Does this feel right?’
Yes, you get to decide if you want to do something and if it is right for you. Often we are asked, forced, guilt tripped into making and agreeing to something out of obligations, wanting to please or just simply saying yes before we thought about it. Take time to see if it is right for you.
Just as important as making the decision is accepting the decision you have made.
Many people, myself included, will make decisions throughout the day and at the end of the day spend time thinking and analyzing them. Stressing over them and wondering what if, can I, should I, why did I agree to that?
What’s done is done. You have made the decision. Lived the choice. Now accept. It is over, the day is done. You can not undo the past, no matter how much we each want to, and you are no worse off for having made the decision (hopefully).
Let it go. Tomorrow is another day. Maybe the decision you made can be tweaked or debated, however you can’t undo the yes or no you gave. Learn from the decision you are mulling over in your head. Why did you say yes? What can you do differently next time?
For tonight, own it, accept it, enjoy your evening, what is done is done.
